JOB TITLE:Registered Nurse Outpatient LOCATION: Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center DEPARTMENT:Laboratory WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full time JOB SUMMARY: Performs Therapeutic and Donor Apheresis procedures such as Plasma Apheresis, Red Cell Exchange, Stem Cell Collections and other related procedures as required. Assesses patient needs in the Therapeutic Apheresis program. Plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities that meet those needs. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinic or nursing unit. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction. Works under the general supervision of the Technical Specialist and under the administrative direction of the Supervisor or Lab Operations Director. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates good organizational skills and effective communication skills. Must possess solid interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), organizational, and critical thinking skills. Must be able to work independently and manage all aspects of the applicable apheresis procedure(s), while adhering to the unit policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements (e.g. FDA, FACT). Must be able to work collaboratively with other apheresis staff (e.g. RN’s, apheresis technicians) to effectively manage daily workflow and be able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Must be willing to accommodate scheduling changes, as well as off-shift weekend assignments, as workload dictates. Additional Qualifications: Knowledge of adult and pediatric apheresis/dialysis preferred Excellent venipuncture skills Demonstrates good organizational skills and effective communication skills. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Current Registered Nurse licensure in Pennsylvania or eligibility for licensure required. Graduated from an approved school of nursing required.
