Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), located in eastern Pennsylvania, is seeking applicants for the position of Chief of Internal Medicine. A successful candidate will be a board-certified Internist with at least seven years of clinical experience and two or more years of experience in a leadership role. A collaborative mindset with ability to build relationships across the clinical and administrative spectrum, a passion for exceptional patient-centric care, a commitment to quality improvement and innovation, and a strong strategic focus are essential. Responsibilities will include a 40/60 split of administrative and clinical time and oversight and responsibility for the division’s clinical operations, program development, performance improvement and management. The chief will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Medicine. Academic appointment is available.

The new chief will be an employee of Lehigh Valley Physicians Group (LVPG), a multispecialty physician enterprise now comprised of more than 1,300 physicians and advanced practice clinicians. Celebrating its 25th-year anniversary in 2019, LVPG provides care to patients in the Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks, Montgomery, Berks, Schuylkill, Carbon and Monroe counties. With more than 200 ambulatory practice sites, LVPG employs approximately 3,000 of the highest quality staff. Services range from extensive primary care offerings to over sixty medical and surgical specialties, crossing all ages and covering the entire spectrum of care. LVPG completes over 3 million visits per year and cares for more than half of the Lehigh Valley’s population. In addition, LVPG is a major participant in the LVHN Accountable Care Organization within the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) as well as multiple value based reimbursement quality programs.
The Division of Internal Medicine is comprised of nearly 100 talented clinicians, nearly 160,000 annual visits and high quality metric achievement that meet the triple aim. There are currently 27 practices in five counties, including our academic faculty practice, the internal medicine residency clinic practice, and several unique practices devoted to the care of some of the region’s most vulnerable patients including the Comprehensive Health Services (formerly the AIDS Activities Office), the Hepatitis Care Center, the Sexual Health Center, and Centro de Salud.
The Lehigh Valley area is anchored by the city of Allentown, the fastest growing city in the state. Ongoing urban redevelopment that includes new businesses, sophisticated metropolitan-style housing, four-star restaurants and entertainment venues are credited with the city’s growth.
