WORK TYPE: Full-time
Responsible for maintaining safety and security for an assigned area. Maintains safety and security of patients, visitors, and employees; conducts routine patrols of assigned areas to keep property and persons free from risk; meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned area.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality service and patient satisfaction.
Directly accountable to the Supervisor Security and/or Manager, Security Services.

PREMISES SECURITY-Knowledge of and ability to employ required tools, techniques and technologies to minimize losses due to breaches of physical premises security.
OFFICE ADMINISTRATION-Ability to carry out ongoing office administration tasks effectively and efficiently in support of local and remote teams.
CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS-Customer service skills is a series of activities designed to enhance the level of customer satisfaction, that is, the feeling that a product or service has met the customer expectation.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS-Demonstrates oral, written, and electronic communication skills.
INDEPENDENT WORK-Demonstrates ability to work independently or with limited supervision.
COMPUTER SKILLS-Demonstrates basic navigation in a windows environment, and passwords and security. Demonstrates the ability to compose, send and read emails, understands email functionality and conventions related to replying.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Six months previous military, security, institutional, or police experience required. Security or police related education courses / training preferred. Healthcare experience preferred.
Required to successfully complete International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Healthcare Security Officer Certification within 12 months of employment.
Current PA Driver’s License required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Works in all types of weather. Responds to emergencies, fire alarms, hazardous material incidents. Deals with conflict, confrontation, and stressful situations on a routine basis. Performs both foot patrol and vehicle patrol of facilities and grounds. Must be physically able to provide the essential services of the position.
