T his position has accountability for effectively leading key facility functions including: Facility Master Planning; Space Planning; Design; Construction; Renewal (Major Maintenance); Facilities Maintenance and Operations; Environmental Compliance; and Safety. The VP will support the vision, strategic plan, and operating objectives of the Penn State Health (PSH) System, including strategic growth initiatives. This individual will provide expertise and guidance to the PSH leadership team in support of patient care, safety, financial, and customer service objectives.
The VP will also coordinate with and support PSH functions related to Facilities Management for Ambulatory facilities; Real Estate; and Emergency Preparedness. The VP will have a direct line of coordination with the Assistant Vice President, Facilities, for the Penn State College of Medicine and PSH Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
M INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in an Engineering field, Architecture, Facilities Management, or related field required.
15 years of experience in real estate, facilities design, construction and administration, including 10 or more years of progressive management experience in facility development, 5 or more years of experience within a large, complex, multi-site, growing organization and previous experience in developing and constructing large-scale building projects required.
7 years of leadership experience in a healthcare system required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Demonstrated expertise and proven success in the areas of facilities design and construction and facilities administration.
Ability to function effectively in fast-paced environment with multiple demands/deadlines. Position requires the ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously.
Outstanding leadership skills with proven ability to inspire and motivate staff, peers and stakeholders.
Ability to set strategic vision and execute plans on time and within budget, holding team accountable for outcomes, while at the same time being very hands on.
Ability to collect, analyze and communicate data to support department services. A high level of analytical ability is needed due to the complexity of problems encountered.
Excellent customer service and service recovery skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills both verbal and written. Effective Business English skills with the ability to communicate professionally with a wide variety of people at different levels of the organization.
Demonstrated record of implementing sound management practices such as team building, reporting, client relations and personnel performance management. Must demonstrate skills in conflict resolution and human relations and exhibit a team approach.
Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA, EPA, OSHA, CMS, Joint Commission, and state and local building codes.
Registered Architect or Professional Engineer required.
Experience working for an academic medical center or similarly complex health system preferred.
Hospital experience preferred.
