You Will Be Responsible For:
The Director of Strategic Planning – Service Lines is a member of the Strategic Planning Department and is responsible for identifying strategic growth opportunities and business planningfor their designated service lines across the Central Florida Division (CFD.) This Division spans 7 counties and is currently comprised of 17 hospitals, in addition to hundreds of physician practices and ambulatory access points with aggressive growth goals in the coming years. This individual will be expected to grow their designated service lines across these sites of care through robust strategic planning processes and integration with local market strategic initiatives. This individual will be expected to interface with Market CEOs, Market CFOs, physician executives, Institute VPs and Business Development leaders in order to provide growth strategy recommendations, market share forecasts, volume projections, and proforma assumptions. This individual must have deep strategic thinking capabilities and robust analytical expertise to interpret complex market data and trends. This individual must be a strong team-player and have the ability to oversee the work of lower level team members in an indirect reporting structure. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Represents AdventHealth’s mission and brand.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop multi-year business plans that drive volume and EBDIT growth across all 10 CFD Sub-Markets within the assigned service lines (3-5 years in scope).
Ensures AdventHealth’s market growth strategies are consumer-centric and are reflective of our brand of Whole Person Care while maintaining a strong emphasis on the viability of the business.
Maintains industry relationships relevant to designated service lines. Identify service line best practices for incorporation into service line development initiatives and collaborates with service line leadership for the continual maturity of the service line.
Seeks guidance from legal or compliance teams as appropriate.
Responsibility to operate in a compliant manner particularly as it relates to our relationships with physicians.Ensure all assigned service lines have aggressive growth strategies aimed to improve market share, profitability and/or long-term viability and that key stakeholders are engaged in the execution of those strategies.
Track and monitor the performance of strategies in the market and to internal performance metrics to inform feedback cycles within the planning process for accountability, process improvement and organizational decision making.
Assess competitive landscapes for service lines across all markets; develop competitor profiles in conjunction with market leadership and the market business development director outlining competitors’ facility strategies, recruitment strategies and specific products and services initiatives.
This individual must work closely with operational leaders across the Central Florida Division to ensure an understanding of the strategic plan and the operational resources required to achieve the intended outcomes and to ensure accurate proforma development.
Build a comprehensive set of assumptions to inform the financial proformas associated with the multi-year Service Line Business Plans or new business ventures. Including but not limited to volume assumptions, fixed expense assumptions, variable expense assumptions and capital resource needs. These assumptions are applicable to hospital, medical group and ambulatory business units.
Identify opportunities and build business cases for new revenue and business model opportunities. This could include partnership opportunities with physician groups.
Work collaboratively across hospital, medical group and Institute leadership teams to inform physician recruitment plans. Promote teamwork and collaborate with the other members of the service line planning team for performance improvement, brainstorming and providing additional bandwidth as needed.
Collect, interpret and present market data (external, internal and forecasted outpatient and inpatient) from a variety of sources to identify opportunities and threats in the local market for inclusion in the Service Line Business Plans. Initiate market research and work with corporate market research team as needed for both qualitative and quantitative assessment.
Conduct national and market specific service line assessments to identify trends that would impact AdventHealth’s book of business. This could include, but is not limited to, managed care and governmental payer dynamics, site of care shifts, physician dynamics, competitor movements, technology advancements, population demographics and care utilization.
Lead a diverse and large group of senior level stakeholders through a repeatable annual process to develop and refine the multi-year service line business plan to ensure stakeholder buy-in and support of the strategies. This includes listening and responding to feedback from Market CEOs, Market CFOs, Institute VPs, physician leaders and others for development and refinement of the unified CFD market strategy.
What You Will Need:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare or related field
Five years’ experience in healthcare, business development, strategic planning and/or operations
Three years leadership experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, or related field
Two years subject matter expertise in designated product line
Proforma and business plan development
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Excellent analytical and data interpretation ability
Ability to navigate a fast paced and high-change environment
Financial acumen to interpret proformas and financial statements
A clear understanding of the business of healthcare with strong business acumen, intelligence, and ability to think strategically and implement tactically
Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information to leaders across the organization (Directors through Senior Vice Presidents)
Refined presentation competencies (both development and delivery)
Ability to work in a matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals
Ability to quickly develop relationships to influence change and elicit action
Ability to assess complex scenarios and make recommendations concerning matters of major importance to senior leaders
Working knowledge of project management, market research and data analytics
Ability to accept responsibility for actions and results, with a drive to achieve and outperform, while continuously looking for improvements
