Position Summary:
Under the direction of Senior Director and Information Technology, provide support within the Heart and Vascular Center related to the Picture & Archive Communications Systems (PACS), Medical Users Software Exchange (MUSE), MARS PC Holter Scanning System (MARS), Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring System (ABP), and Transtelephonic Monitoring System (TTM). Maintain demographic database, assist with quality assurance, analyze systems and operations for improvement, and provide technical support. Participate in open communication with, Heart and Vascular Center, MIS, hospital and computer vendor personnel as needed. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Accountability:
  • SECURITY - Work with the Information Security Analyst to ensure adherence to safety aspects of all computer system accounts

  • STANDARDS - Adhere to institutional IT policies and procedures, standards, and architectures that promote data integrity, security and shared use of data at UNM Hospitals

  • DATABASE - Responsible for maintaining the patient demographic database via the archive server

  • TRAINING - Assist in providing basic education to staff, referring physicians, and teaching supervisors on how to effectively use the computer systems

  • SYSTEMS OPERATIONS - In collaboration with department personnel, analyze systems and operations to improve system operations; monitor related department reports

  • MAINTENANCE - Maintain and diagnose computer systems, assembly, software applications, computer hardware and networking

  • TECHNICAL SUPPORT - Provide technical support to internal and external customers by efficiently performing a wide variety of tasks utilizing various systems with the ultimate goal of accurate and efficient utilization of electronic/manual imaging data storage, reporting and distribution methodologies

  • QUALITY ASSURANCE - Responsible for assisting with Quality Assurance

  • PROCESS IMPROVEMENT - Assist with improving and correcting billing errors within the department

  • BENCHMARKING - Assist with benchmarking data collection

  • RELATED WORK - Perform related duties as assigned

  • AUDIT - Develop, oversee and conduct various routine and special audits, research and correct data to maintain integrity of programs

  • Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Education Requirements - Preferred:
  • Vocational or Technical training specialized in computers

  • Comm on Allied Health and Accred (AMA), or accred ED pgm

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline

  • Experience Requirements - Preferred:
  • 2 years directly related experience

  • Physical Demands Requirements:
  • Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

  • Licensure/Certification Requirements - Preferred:
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer

  • Network +

  • Certified Cardiographic Technician and/or certified in ARDMS, RVT or RDCS

  • Cardiographic Technician Certification

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)

  • Professional licensure as appropriate to the clinical objectives of the unit:
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer

  • Network +

  • Certified Cardiographic Technician and/or certified in ARDMS, RVT or RDCS

  • Cardiographic Technician Certification

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)

  • Working Conditions Requirements:
  • Med Haz: Mod exposure to chemicals, dangerous equipment and/or materials requiring basic safety precautions

  • May be required to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends

  • May be required or is required to perform on-call duties

  • May be required to work on ladders or scaffolding
