Your day

As a key leader for the SCL Oncology Center of Excellence, the Oncology Service Line Director is accountable for the overall leadership and management of all aspects of the adult oncology service line offered at the care site, to include the infusion center, support services, radiation oncology, and breast imaging. The Director proactively engages other department leaders in defining and implementing processes that promote high quality outcomes, workflow efficiencies, and positive customer experiences. The Director is responsible for collaborative working relationships with system services, including the Revenue Service Center, and Finance for the efficient and effective operations and customer service of the site Cancer Center and patients.

The site Oncology Director partners with Care Site, National Jewish Health and SCL Health System Oncology Service Line leadership to implement system-wide initiatives related to quality improvement, workflow efficiencies, stewardship of financial resources, regulatory compliance, and patient satisfaction to support the Mission of SCL Health and the Oncology Center of Excellence.

In this role you need to know how to:

• Direct and support the delivery of oncology clinical, support, diagnostic and interventional services, including direct supervision of leaders responsible for the various clinical functions. Assure compliance with all care site policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.


• Work collaboratively with other clinical departments and physicians at care site and with National Jewish Health, to facilitate quality improvement initiatives, workflow process improvements, and operational efficiencies while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction scores.


• Oversee the accreditation processes associated with Cancer Programs. Ensures compliance with cancer-related activities and maintains regulatory readiness.


• Recruit, hire, and evaluate the performance of oncology associates with direct reporting relationships in all areas of responsibility.


• Provide guidance to managers within the service line to build teams of highly skilled/engaged associates whose performance enhances achievement of service line goals.


• In conjunction with Care Site and SCL Oncology Service Line leadership, creates annual care site budget and goals, establishes/implements action plans to support the identified key initiatives, assures that barriers to goal accomplishment are identified, and regularly provides status reports of actual vs target performance.


• Actively engages in planning discussions related to new technology adoption, program development, and promotion of service line to improve market share.


• Advocate for the needs of the care site within the overall Oncology Service Line through open and honest communication while also committing support for the ultimate decisions of the system Oncology Service Line initiatives.

Your experience

We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

• Bachelorâ™s Degree in clinically relevant field within three (3) years of hire date, required


• Masterâ™s Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, or HealthCare Administration, preferred


• Minimum 5 yearsâ™ experience in oncology patient care, with at least 2 yearsâ™ in management role, required


• Progressive management experience in an acute care environment, preferably in an oncology setting. Management experience in the outpatient Oncology setting, preferred
