Occupational Summary
The IT Analyst for Maestro Care Iris DBA will work with a team responsible for database administration including design, build, deployment, and maintenance. The infrastructure that is maintained by this team currently hosts the Duke Maestro Care applications currently hosted on multiple systems and database layer platforms including Oracle, Iris along with IBM AIX servers.
This position requires participation in an on call rotation in order to provide 24x7x365 coverage.
This position reports to the Technical Team Lead
Demonstrates knowledge and proven knowledge of Iris within the Epic environment. Incumbent is responsible for
Work Performed
LEVEL 2:
- Function in a cross-team environment.
- Manage the documentation, resolution, and completion of identified deployment issues and tasks
- Administer, maintain, develop, and provide for Epic Iris databases
- Perform server software installation and upgrades
- Ensure security and data integrity of databases
- Resolve complicated database performance and capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues
- Perform audits for database quality and health
- Participate in identified development and production support meetings, reviews, and design sessions, as assigned
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures and follow all change control processes defined within Maestro Care
- Provide both business and after hours support for issues around system production support including the analysis, prioritization and implementation of requested changes, analysis of new functionality, coordination of software release updates, system testing and interface enhancements
- Perform troubleshooting analysis and problem resolution
- Plan, execute and support testing activities
- Individual contributor that works under limited supervision. Applies subject matter knowledge; requires capacity to understand specific needs or requirements to apply skills/knowledge.
- Proactively complete assigned Maestro Care Iris deployment(s), management, and testing tasks within defined timeline
- Maintains a level of exposure to external industry and market technical intelligence.
- Performs and coordinates simple to complex projects with minimal direction.
- Optimizes internal resources to maximize team capabilities.
- Leads peers to resolve complex issues consistent with divisional/organizational goals.
- Serve as technical resource for discipline in cross-functional teams.
- Effectively communicates specific IT issues/solutions to clients.
- Participation in 24x7 on-call rotation
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training: | Bachelor's degree in a related field, or four years of equivalent technical experience required. |

Experience: | Level 2 - Three years of related experience is required. For all levels, Duke Health System experience and/or IT system deployment experience preferred |

Skills: | LEVEL 2: - At least 3 years of experience with Iris database in Epic environment
- Epic Iris certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience should include installation, configuration and management of multiple Epic and Iris environments.
- Expertise in Iris configuration, monitoring, backup and recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, shadowing, journaling, and Iris security.
- UNIX operating system experience
- High degree of competency with learning and interpreting IT systems
- Strong communication, interpersonal and team skills
- Prefer knowledge and experience in health care information systems
- Demonstrated written, verbal and follow-up skills
- Prefer Windows Server administration experience
- Keeps current on new industry trends in a specific discipline and applies learnings to assignments.
- Considers impact to others and current processes within discipline prior to taking action.
