Occ Summary
Provide physical therapy services to patients /clients who haveimpairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or c hanges inphysical function and health status resulting from injury, dise ase, orother causes; provide prevention and wellness services, including screenings and health promotion. The senior serves as a resource personf orthe team and the department: participates in orientation of newstaff t herapists, physicians and other health personnel. The seniorparticipates in teaching activities for physical therapy and otherhealth related stu dents. The physical therapist works within practiceguidelines as defined by NorthCarolina state law.

Duties an dResponsibilities of this Level: See Departmental criteriafor each duty listed, and Departmental criteria for clinical ladder.Physical Therapist Demonstrate & articulate sound clinical reasoning in synthesizingcomplex evaluation data identifying diagnosis and developing acomprehensive plan of care.Develop and update appropriate plan of care in collaborationwi th thepatient/family and related to the person's age and lifestyle with measurable long and short term goals and a defined D/C planUnderstandthe role of physical therapy in the context of the patient'sage, total need s perspective and environmentPerform age appropriate competency skills i n area of practice and withrespect to individual patient's problems.Foll ow intervention protocols and alter plan of care appropriately.Dischargepatient when goals have been met or medical necessity is nolonger warran ts intervention.Establish provisions for continuing services/followup as needed.Meet competency skills for evaluations in area of practice.Consi stently meet patient care productivity standard as established forjob cl assification.Work cooperatively with supervisors and peers to contribute to theoverall productivity of the team.Utilize support personnel (aides , sr aides, assistants) as appropriateand available.Actively support and participate in patient coverage efforts across alldivisions withinthe d epartment as necessary.Assess the learning needs and capabilitiesof pati ents and caregivers.Initiate patient and family education in a timely ma nner relative toage, LOS, readiness to learn, and emotional status.Utili ze appropriate methods and materials for effective learning,monitoring r esponse to education, andadapting program appropriately.Ensure that pati ent/family understands when and how to access furtherintervention.Patien t care documentation is timely, legible, and efficient.Documentation is concise, pertinent and meets the professions anddepartments documentatio n standards.Oral reporting is clear, concise, relevant, and timely.Perfo rm all required data collection for the department accurately andwithin expected time frame.Peer review standards are consistently met.Provide c linical education experiences for students as requested bysupervisor and established by CCCETake 1-2 students for long term clinical rotation (T herapist of > 1yrexperience).Adjust supervisory techniques for individua l student's needs.Provide outreach and learning activities as requested which may include:in-services on related topics, generating referrals, i nteracting withvolunteers or visitors.Participate in data collection for research activities to enhanceclinical outcomes.Perform other related d uties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree or certification in physical therapy, with Master's or ClinicalDoctorate in physical therapy preferred.
Experience
None beyond required education, although more experience may be preferred at times.

Current Physical Therapist license in North Carolina
