The Phlebotomy Training Program is 10 weeks long. The 10-week program includes 6 weeks of school followed by 4 weeks of training.
Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist Certification to be obtained during the program. This is at the cost of the employee but will be reimbursed by MultiCare. Job Description: The Phlebotomist Trainee is responsible for obtaining blood specimens from patients of all ages primarily in an acute care, and ambulatory setting under the supervision of a phlebotomist. This position works closely with the laboratory and patient care teams. This position requires a service-oriented individual who can establish good, positive, and effective relations with all patients and staff, who has exceptional organization skills, pays attention to detail, and uses discretion and good judgment in decision-making. Internal contacts include MHS staff and management. External contacts include patients, patient's families, and physicians Program Schedule: If extended an offer, the schedule during the training program will be: Monday-Friday, which includes clinical training and classroom time Must have availability during the day 8:00am to 5:00pm for clinical training During training this is a 1.0 FTE (40-hour work week) Candidates should be prepared to dedicate 40 hours a week towards work and classroom time as well as additional unpaid time for homework and studying. Once training is completed and licensure has been obtained your schedule will change to one of the following: Float pool candidates - 8-hour shifts. 5 days a week with at least 2 Saturdays in a 6-week schedule. Availability 630am-630pm and they will be floating between all outpatient service centers. Permanent location - A designated shift Monday - Friday with the option of picking up weekends as OT if staffing allows.
