JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurses in this role are responsible for handling phone calls from patients' families/caregivers seeking medical information and/or medical attention for children. They will assess the health needs, with the aid of the medical record and decision support software, and give advice as appropriate in compliance with organizational protocols. They will also schedule appointments (as the patient's condition requires), answer questions, and provide health education at every opportunity.Â
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by State of employment
AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Three (3) years experience Pediatric Nursing; Ambulatory Care Nursing
Experience with Barton Schmitt Pediatric Telephone Protocols
Pediatric experience and triage experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to sit occasionally; stand constantly; walk frequently.
Able to lift/carry 0-10 lbs frequently; 11-50 lbs occasionally.
Able to push/pull 0-20 lbs frequently; 21-75 lbs occasionally.
Able to climb occasionally; reach constantly.
Able to use hand for simple/firm grasping.
