This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Residency Training (Internal Medicine or Family Practice): Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. (NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences. Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rather, they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Board Certification or Board Eligible. Preferred Experience: -Family Practice or Internal Medicine Board Certified or Board Eligible. -Greater than 3 years' experience as a Primary Care and/or Women's Health provider -Leadership Experience -Recent experience in providing procedural skills including Colposcopy, IUD insertion/removal, Nexplanon insertion/removal -Possesses a strong work ethic, superb integrity, kindness and empathy, and who enjoys working with a collaborative group. -Has a desire to train and mentor providers, residents and medical students. -Must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a rapidly growing program. ["**Amendment Notice: Announcement updated to reflect the new VA Mission Statement** The position of the Deputy Women's Health Medical Director (DWHMD) is established in the office of the Associate Chief of Staff of Ambulatory Care and will report to the Chief, Ambulatory Care Special Programs Deputy ACOS for Ambulatory Care Services with delegated responsibility for assisting, administering, coordinating, evaluating, recommending and or developing program guidelines and policies for the entire field of Women's Health. The principal duty of the DWHMD is to function as the Assistant Medical Director of Women's Health across the Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHS) sites of care. In collaboration with the WVPM and the WHMD, the DWHMD works to develop clinical leadership for the Women's Health Program, including participation in strategic planning, administration, quality improvement, and educational initiatives. Additionally, He/She serves as the direct supervisor for the Patient Aligned Care Teams providers as assigned within OVAHS. Responsibilities encompass administrative, educational, and clinical roles simultaneously to form the foundation of the Women Veterans Program. - Duties include but are not limited to; Fully qualified and certified to function in both a clinical and administrative role and in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the OVAHCS. The incumbent is a skilled ambulatory care medicine physician with a concentration in Women's Health. Manage a female only veteran panel providing comprehensive and gender specific care including age appropriate cervical and breast cancer screening, menopause and contraceptive management, and evaluation of gynecological concerns. Provide care via face to face or virtual consultation for routine cervical and breast cancer screening, menopause and contraceptive management and evaluation of gynecological concerns for female veterans not assigned to a designated women's health provider at the site of care. Direct Supervision of Designated Women's Health Providers/staff when assigned. Collaborate with the WVPM and facility leadership to determine the appropriate model of care for comprehensive women's health care at all sites of care at the OVAHCS, including the main VA medical facility, Outpatient Clinics and Outpatient Clinics. Review of EPRP Performance metrics and work with the VA medical facility quality management team, Responsible for excellent achievement on all measures that apply to women's health, both gender-specific and gender-neutral measures. Responsible for working with the quality team, the WVPM and primary care leadership to eliminate gender disparities in performance. Develop and supervise educational initiatives for women's health providers and trainees. Actively supports participation in on-going nationally developed educational programs, such as, Women's Health Mini-Residency, emergency care modules, and use of women's health simulation clinic. Provide oversight and monitoring of completion of required CME's for DWHPCPs to maintain credentialing.
